Spiritual & Pastoral Care

A quiet complement to the lines above, for anyone who would also like someone to hold space and pray beside them. This is always offered alongside, never instead of, clinical and emergency mental-health care. There is no pressure here; it is entirely your choice.

Hospital Chaplaincy & Inpatient Advocacy

If you or a loved one are admitted to a hospital or psychiatric facility, you have a patient's right to ask for a Priest, Chaplain, Rabbi, Pastor, Imam, or another spiritual caregiver. Chaplaincy and spiritual care are a normal, free part of hospital care, you never need to be religious to ask, and your request is private.

How to ask: tell a nurse or doctor, “I'd like to see a chaplain,” or call the hospital's spiritual-care office at any hour. If a facility cannot arrange the specific leader you want, ask to speak with the patient-advocacy office, and a trusted loved one may help you advocate, too. This is gentle and entirely yours to choose, you may also decline it at any time.

Catholic & Faith-Based Mental Health Directories

Faith-integrated directories that connect you with mental-health professionals who gently integrate faith and evidence-based care.

  • Find therapists who gently integrate faith and evidence-based care, the searchable directory is reached from the Catholic Psychotherapy Association (CPA)
  • Association of Catholic Mental Health Ministers, a national network and crisis-pastoral support resource for people living with mental-health conditions.
  • Universal hospital interfaith chaplaincy resource and guidance on accessing spiritual care during a stay, via HealthCare Chaplaincy Network

Spiritual and pastoral care supports you emotionally and spiritually; it is not a replacement for medical or psychiatric treatment. If you are in crisis, please still use the emergency and hotline resources above first.

A gentle note: the people on these lines are there for you, and reaching out is always the right step. This page and Midnight Watch Community are not a replacement for professional medical or mental-health care. There is no shame in seeking it, you deserve support.
